With over three decades of experience in aviation, Joe Hertzler is a respected authority in aircraft maintenance operations, regulatory compliance, and strategic innovation. As Strategic Business Advisor at Thoroughbred Aviation, Joe supports the company’s growth through business development strategy, B2B collaboration, and high-level client advisement.

Joe began his career as an FAA-certified mechanic and inspector before founding Avtrak LLC, a leading web-based aircraft maintenance tracking platform that powered Gulfstream’s CMP.net and was later acquired. Under Joe’s leadership, Avtrak earned industry-wide recognition, including Pro Pilot Magazine’s "Best Maintenance Tracking System" award. His work has helped shape standards in aircraft compliance and digital tracking, making him a trusted voice in both operational and executive circles.

In addition to being an A&P, Joe holds his Inspectors Authorization and is a private pilot. He is a published contributor to D.O.M. Magazine and Aircraft Maintenance Technology Magazine, and has served on maintenance committees for both NBAA and NATA.

Outside the office, Joe enjoys CrossFit, playing guitar, and spending time with his family in Windsor, Colorado—especially in the mountains or near the water.
